Each week, Dancing With the Stars promises a shocking elimination and last night the show delivered when America?s favorite TV mom, Florence Henderson, and her partner, Corky Ballas, were eliminated.
Despite receiving their highest score to date for their tango (21 out of a possible 30) and praise for improvement from the judges, it wasn?t enough to keep them safe from the dreaded red light. Given that Florence and Corky?s swan song was the theme from The Brady Bunch, a song the couple fought hard to get cleared for the show, her departure was bittersweet.
?You wouldn?t think of The Brady Bunch theme as tango, but Corky did really well with it,? Florence told In Touch after the performance. ?I was really happy to have had the song as dancing to the alternative, The Addams Family, might not have really worked. ?
After two weeks of threatened elimination, no one was more surprised to be safe last night than fellow competitor Bristol Palin. Her jive, on Monday?s show, was fraught with problems. After emerging in a gorilla suit, to dance to The Monkees theme, Bristol encountered challenges shedding the suit and received the night?s lowest score (18), yet still received praise for the performance. Considering judge Len Goodman?s disdain for the use of props in a performance, his praise came as quite a shock to everyone, including Bristol.
?I was waiting to get hit, but they were nice,? Bristol told In Touch after the performance. ?They saw me trying to bring out my personality and were kind, but we both thought we would get hammered for it. I completely forgot the next dance moves and was focused on getting the suit off. It was definitely a big hiccup on my part.?
One thing is for sure, Florence?s bubbly presence will be missed by everyone. ?I am trying not to cry,? revealed an emotional Brandy after the show. While Audrina Patridge ads, ?She is such a sweet, nurturing person and a pleasure to be around. I am really going to miss her energy.?
